Silo

Territory Studio designed the screen graphics for Series 2 of Silo, Apple TV+'s dystopian drama set in a vast underground bunker where society lives under strict information control. When Bernard (Tim Robbins), head of IT, introduces his subordinate Lukas (Avi Nash) to hidden advanced technology, Territory was tasked with devising the Tablet UI, bespoke cipher visualisations, and a sand-particle algorithm assistant — all serving the show's themes of secrecy, surveillance, and manipulation.

The Legacy is a hidden digital archive restricted to nearly all Silo inhabitants, accessed through a voice-controlled interface called the Algorithm. Classical cipher systems — Atbash, numeric, and substitution ciphers — were visualised as voice-accessible entries with clean layouts and subtle stylised graphics matching the refined, futuristic tone of the UI.

The Algorithm's visualisation was developed to convey its presence and responsiveness. Early explorations included sculptural facial recognition where sand-like particles formed fragmented facial structures to represent a person being identified — awareness conveyed through subtle visual cues rather than direct interaction.

When idle, the Algorithm appears as a calm particle system of wave-like cymatic patterns that respond to sound and movement, complementing the interface's minimal and advanced design language.
