Territory Studio collaborated closely with director Alex Parkinson to design story-driven screen graphics for the ship's bridge in Last Breath — a deep-sea rescue thriller. The graphics visualise the high-stakes reality of a mounting storm and a diver trapped beneath the surface, serving as both authentic instrumentation and critical narrative tools.
Built using After Effects expressions, the graphics were fully interconnected across multiple screens, enabling fast, accurate updates during filming. Bridge displays conveyed real-time data including satellite connections, ship heading, rotation, and bell position — mirrored from real ship instrumentation with a stylised edge. Colour coding (green for stable, red for failure) and clean layouts made escalating system failures immediately readable.
The diving bell sequence — depicting a pressurised capsule descending towards the subsea manifold — required precise spatial visualisation: movement indicators and positional references showing the bell's location relative to the ship and seafloor in real time.
The Dynamic Positioning System (DPS) screens were designed to depict live fault diagnostics, positional drift metrics, and system recovery protocols as the DPS fails in severe weather. Integrated ROV camera feeds created a cohesive data environment for navigation and rescue coordination — balancing technical accuracy with cinematic readability throughout.
