A submarine thriller with a commitment to authenticity, Territory Studio created on-set screen graphics visualising the sound patterns at the heart of this gripping French drama directed by Antonin Baudry.
Working across 6 sets in Paris alongside the director and naval consultants, Territory created credible military UI for on-set playback — combining military authenticity, narrative story beats, and cinematic aesthetic, implemented live on-set to a tight shoot schedule.
The story revolves around the 'Golden Ear' — a submariner trained to listen to and interpret underwater sound patterns. Territory worked closely with a real Golden Ear and submarine consultants to simulate the technical logic of sonar, radar, analysis, classification, map screens, and weapons systems. The result was technology interfaces rooted in real-world military technology and UI design.
Each screen was meticulously planned and designed to support the director's vision and the actors' performances — mapping the interplay between sound, interpretation and response to create a credible submarine environment.
